Meeting with residents as part of the LIFE PACT project in Podgórze Duchackie
The main topic of the meeting was to discuss how to develop public spaces along Witosa, Gołaśka and Marcowa Streets. Potential solutions for land development were presented, using NBS (Nature-Based Solutions), i.e. solutions based on nature.
The activities are carried out as part of the project ‘Life Pact – Human Factor: Adapting the city for tomorrow's needs’. The implementation of the tasks includes the construction of green areas/green-blue infrastructure in selected areas of the Municipality of Krakow.
The meeting began with a presentation by a representative of the municipal unit Climate-Energy-Water Management, who outlined the investment plans and discussed the essence of the ‘Life Pact’ project and the Citizens' Budget. Next, a designer from Vogt studio presented possible options for developing the area using NBS, taking into account the needs of people with disabilities. The presentation included two proposals for developing the area: a park version and a naturalistic version. In the next stage of the meeting, participants were divided into two workshop groups, whose task was to develop terrain models based on elements prepared by the designer. The first group created a model illustrating the park variant, while the second focused on composing a naturalistic version. Paper materials depicting greenery and small architectural objects were used to design the models. The final part of the meeting included a presentation of the prepared models and the development of a joint solution through the active participation of residents in providing feedback and indicating their preferences regarding changes to the planned public space.
The meeting with residents as part of the LIFE PACT project, held in the Podgórze Duchackie district, was an excellent opportunity to directly involve the local community in the spatial planning process. Thanks to this cooperation, it will be possible to create a public space that is tailored to the needs and expectations of the community, while also complying with the principles of sustainable development.
