The next stage of work on the rain garden in Dębniki
Right next to Monte Cassino Street, an innovative rain garden from the programme is being created. #LifePactThis initiative is unique in that it has focused on resident participation from the very beginning.
We have had joint meetings and workshops during which we designed this residential space.
Now, the square on busy Monte Cassino Street is changing before our eyes. Soon, we will see new plants, benches, and a swing – a completely different and certainly quieter and more peaceful face of the urban landscape.
KEGW's efforts to obtain funding for nature-mimicking activities in the city have been ongoing for three years. The project is financed by the LIFE Programme and the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, with 15% coming from the City of Krakow's budget. Next year, nature-based solutions will be implemented in three more locations: Witosa, Banacha and Strzelców Streets. Life Pact is an important partnership programme that allows Krakow to replicate good and proven methods of participation with residents. The implementation of the Life Pact programme in Krakow, Madrid and Leuven will cost approximately €4 million.
