“Forest in a jar” workshops at Primary School No. 2 in Krakow – caring for the planet – environmental education after the implementation of the LIFE PACT project
On October 8, 2025, St. Wojciech Primary School No. 2 in Krakow hosted a unique environmental workshop for students, dedicated to creating so-called forests in a jar. The meeting was not only a creative form of learning, but also a practical way of showing how to care for the natural environment on a daily basis.
The event was organized as part of LIFE PACT project sustainability activities, which, although formally completed on August 31, 2025, continues to bring real benefits to the school community. The investment carried out as part of the project for Primary School No. 2 is not only a specific infrastructure, but above all an impulse for further action and the development of environmental awareness.
During the workshops, students had the opportunity to create closed plant ecosystems in glass jars with their own hands, learning the basic principles of nature on a micro scale. The classes were not only great fun, but also a practical lesson in biology, ecology, and environmental responsibility.
An integral part of the event was also an inspiring lecture on this topic, how to care for the planet and why plants and trees play a key role in maintaining ecological balance. Students learned how important greenery and tree planting are for air quality, biodiversity, and reducing the urban heat island effect.
This event is another step towards building environmental awareness among the youngest and showing that even small actions – such as creating your own forest in a jar – can make a difference to our planet.
It is worth noting that the event took place at the school. where one of the investments under the LIFE PACT project was carried out. Students were also presented with four other investments completed in the city of Krakow, allowing them to see how specific actions translate into improved quality of life in their environment.
