Let us prepare the area at Chełmońskiego and Ehrenberga Streets for climate change together!
How can a neglected neighbourhood square be transformed so that, in addition to increasing water retention, it also gains the favour and satisfaction of the residents of the surrounding area? Workshops need to be organised during which the residents themselves, officials, designers, district councillors and other interested parties can plan the space anew.
The initiator of these interesting workshops, which will start in Krakow on 19 October, is the Climate-Energy-Water Management unit, coordinator of the Life Pact project financed by the European Commission. During the first open meeting at Secondary School No. 14 on Chełmońskiego Street, all aspects of urban planning will be taken into account, including social and environmental aspects that mimic nature, known as NBS. Intensive workshop work will be the starting point for a project that KEGW will soon commission architects to carry out. The consulting team is key to understanding the problems and creating a new concept for the place.

Krakow's partners in the Life Pact programme, Madrid and Leuven, have already benefited from the method of participation in creating a friendly environment. After the workshops, interesting concepts were developed and have already been implemented on site, including green walls and rain gardens.
The involvement of all participants confirmed that participatory workshops are a great idea for changing the environment of a school, home or neighbourhood. A new and attractive urban fabric is the sum of the ideas implemented by residents and local conditions.
Therefore, we invite all interested residents, councillors of the Prądnik Biały district, communities and investors to join us on Thursday, 19 October, at 5:30 p.m. at XIV LO at ul. Chełmońskiego 24.
